Renovation

OPI was hired to assist in the evolving program requirements for renovating a 100-year-old hotel in the newly gentrified Power & Light District in Kansas City, Missouri. The renovation, which began as surface refurbishing of the existing hotel rooms on the upper floors, expanded to involvement on almost every room and floor within the 16-story structure. The final project eventually became a preeminent example of luxury within the Hyatt family of fine hotel accommodations.

Major modifications included removal of an upper story swimming pool, re-programing existing 2-story apartment lofts into 2- hotel rooms and a new recreation and activity room complete with pool tables, shuffleboard court and bar located in the second story below ground basement level.

OPI coordinated to redesign and update the existing dilapidated hotel rooms to provide a classic experience within one of the 144 new rooms. Other accoutrements that were modernized include several banquet and ballrooms and conference areas whose foremost entry statement is exemplified initially by the sublime and grandeur of the main level, 3-story tall lobby space. This breathtaking experience is heightened by the fully restored finishes in the primary seating areas, quaint tables at the new bar and the pedestrian experience leading towards a new world-class restaurant.
