Cedaredge Residence
In-Construction
Perched atop a mesa with sweeping views of the San Juan Mountains, this Adobe-style residence in Cedaredge, Colorado embodies a thoughtful balance of resilience, sustainability, and regional character. Constructed of autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) masonry to enhance wildfire resistance and strategically oriented to maximize passive solar performance, the home responds directly to the environmental conditions of its high-desert setting. Hand-peeled Douglas fir vigas and traditional latilla ceilings define expansive covered outdoor living spaces, creating a seamless transition between the interior and the surrounding landscape. Rooted in the architectural traditions of the Southwest while embracing contemporary performance-driven design, the residence demonstrates that enduring beauty is achieved through a careful integration of context, materiality, and purpose.
